Today starts week 31. If Guppy arrives on time, we only have ten weeks left to go!

We're back from our trip to San Diego...it was nice and sunny and mostly relaxing, although yesterday's trip to the zoo reminded me that (and why ) I don't really do that much walking these days. This morning we discovered that our office/nursery room has a leak in the ceiling. The only good part was that the way we discovered it was that maintenance came to ask about it first thing in the morning - they had already found leaks in the same spot on the floors above and below us. So, all the stuff from the closet is out in the living room and there's a blower and dehumidifier going in there. The highlight of the morning was going to pick up a new shipment of baby stuff from the front office...not the glider (still a mystery), but the latest round of goodies from my MIL - the stroller and the third box of assorted outfits, blankets, etc. since Christmas.

I'm still trying to work out the bumper stickers I saw on one car this afternoon as I was driving home from school. The first one said "Your child is an honor student, mine is in the Marine Corps." If you really think about it, that is not a great advertisement for the Marines: "The few, the proud, the C students..."? The other one made even less sense: "My son fought in Iraq so yours can party in college." I'm still trying to work out the logic of that one. My first guess was: A. Some kind of "we fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here" message. As in, "If our troops weren't in Iraq, by now the Iraqis would have attacked America and totally destroyed our way of life, thus preventing your kid from having the normal growing-up-and-going-to-college experience." Of course, the above statement is preposterous. So I came up with a second interpretation, namely: B. "If we didn't have brave volunteer...

A message from the good liberals at MoveOn.org that I actually felt was important enough to bother you about: You've probably heard about the "superdelegates" who could end up deciding the Democratic nominee. The superdelegates are under lots of pressure right now to come out for one candidate or the other. We urgently need to encourage them to let the voters decide between Clinton and Obama—and then to support the will of the people. We have a Tentative Hypothesis about the identity of the glider benefactors, but I'm not going to put it in print, lest the suspected parties get the impression that we actually expect them to do things like this for us.

HOLY COW - I just went to our baby registry ( www.target.com ) to do some editing (MIL has bought us a stroller, so I wanted to delete the one listed there). SOMEONE has bought us the by-far-most-expensive, super-long-shot item on there - the glider and ottoman!!! Now we are having great fun playing guess who.... Have my folks been playing coy? Are Eric's lab mates way more organized than we ever suspected? Or is this the combined work of all the brothers and sister Griff? Well, we can't wait to find out...stay tuned...
